Sharon Lynn Campbell is best known for her beautiful oil paintings featuring horses, pets and their owners. She prides herself on being able to capture the personality of the people and horses, in great detail, on canvas in order to create memoirs that last a lifetime. Campbell is not just an artist who saw business opportunities in the equestrian art world, but she has been an avid horse lover and competitor all her life.
Born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, Campbell spent much of her time at the family horse farm in Indiana where she developed a love of riding, training, teaching and going to horse shows. She continued to show her Hunter-Jumper horses throughout her young adult life. "I got my first horse, Clarence My Guy, when I was 9 years old and by 17 years old I was riding and training eight to twelve imported Warmbloods each day."
As a young adult she moved to Northern Virginia to continue showing her Hunter-Jumper horses on the east coast. After the birth of her third child Campbell decided to put her love of horses together with her love of art.
Campbell is a self-taught artist. "I feel that creating portraits of the horses comes easy to me because of growing up around them. Their conformation and expressions are second nature to me. Horses were my way of life. I'm so blessed that they are still in my life and that I am able to paint portraits of them full-time in my Virginia studio. I truly love the wonderful reactions I get from my clients when unveiling a painting. It's so rewarding and worth all my time and effort" Campbell has competed numerous years on the Hunter-Jumper circuit and is excited to bring her love of art and horses together to this venue.
Campbell now resides in beautiful Rochelle, Virginia, with her husband, horses, cats and dogs. Campbell's children are now grown up. In July of 2010 Campbell's oldest son got married to a wonderful young lady. In December of 2012 Campbell became a grandmother to an adorable baby boy then again in December of 2014 to a beautiful baby girl. In Oct. 2017 her third grandchild was born, another grandson.
Campbell's work can be seen on major horse show program covers, on numerous magazines, in hundreds of private collections and in galleries, schools and businesses.
Campbell specializes in private portraits by commission. She meets clients for consultations at homes, farms and at some horse shows. Her consultation begins by getting to know her clients in which to capture the true personality of the horses, owners and their pets. Her work is also featured as stationary, greeting cards and limited edition prints.
